Waco ISD to Celebrate More Than 800 Graduates This Week

WACO, TEXAS (May 18, 2025) — More than 800 Waco ISD seniors will turn their tassels this week as graduation ceremonies take place Thursday, May 22, and Friday, May 23, at Waco ISD Stadium.

The sound of "Pomp and Circumstance" will mark the beginning of each evening’s celebration as graduates from Waco High School and University High School take the field to celebrate the Class of 2025.

Waco High School Commencement – Thursday, May 22, 7:30 p.m.

Leading the Waco High School Class of 2025 is Valedictorian Lydia Blue Allen, with a final GPA of 113.4289. Allen plans to attend Southwestern University, majoring in technical theater. Her high school involvement includes theater arts, the International Thespian Society, Choir, National Honor Society, Student Council, and Hope Fellowship Church.

Following Allen’s address, Salutatorian Annabeth Noel Carlson will deliver her remarks. With a final GPA of 112.9638, Carlson plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin to major in biology on the pre-dental track. Her extracurriculars include the German Club, Recycling Club, PTSA, Student Council, Student Government, National Honor Society, Superintendent Scholars, the Advanced Academics Student Advisory Board, church youth group, and varsity golf, tennis, and volleyball.

University High School Commencement – Friday, May 23, 7:30 p.m.

Valedictorian Daisy Barco will lead the University High School Class of 2025. With a GPA of 111.7488, she plans to attend Texas A&M University and major in biology. Barco has participated in theater arts, No Place for Hate, UIL academics, and varsity soccer, where she earned all-state academic honors.

She will be followed by Salutatorian Osmar Cazares Guillen, who earned a GPA of 110.9667. Guillen plans to study aerospace engineering at the University of Texas. He served as drum major of the Mighty Trojan Band for two years and competed in UIL Math, earning recognition as a state science fair finalist.

In addition to student speakers, Superintendent Dr. Tiffany Spicer and district leaders will offer remarks celebrating the accomplishments of the graduates.

All ceremonies will take place at Waco ISD Stadium at 7:30 p.m. A clear bag policy will be in effect, and metal detectors will be in use at all entry points. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to allow time for security screening and seating.
